What Is a Good Reaction Time?

In simple click tests like this one, most adults land somewhere between 200 and 300 milliseconds. Classic laboratory studies of simple visual reaction time put the average around 250 ms — and online tests usually run slightly slower than lab gear, because your screen, browser and mouse each add a few milliseconds of overhead before the click is even registered.

How to Improve Your Reaction Time

Honest answer first: raw reaction speed is heavily shaped by age and genetics, and no routine will cut it in half. What you can do is strip away the overhead — the sleepy brain, the laggy setup, the wandering focus — which is often worth tens of milliseconds:
